Ski Weekend

In honor of Lovely Wife's XXth birthday, I whisked her away for a ski weekend in Wisconsin. We went to Devils Head which is just north of Madison. Very nice resort with all the amenities one could hope for. The drive into southern Wisconsin was quite bucolic. I even said so at the time, but then L.W. challenged me to provide her with a definition. Drats! The best I could come up with was, "smells like cheese". Now it's been several years since either of us went skiing, so we were a little unsure if we could withstand the rigors. Other than a slight case of "noodle legs" on my part, we conquered the mountain admirably. My new nickname is Eric the Shred.

We had the place to ourselves allegedly, a black diamond slope The view from our room. Quite bucolic

Since we stayed over on a Sunday night, all the yahoos had left and we practically had the place to ourselves. Unfortunately, there was no one to answer my burning question: What is a dell? The question arose because we were just south of The Dells, WI. OK, there is The Dells, there is The Farmer in the Dell, so what is a Dell? One smart-alek said, "a computer". The bartender, who is used to making things up and nobody noticing said, "a geologic rock formation". Balderdash! I finally had to Google it. It's a valley. You'd think the natives would know this.

A lovely dinner overlooking the slopes in The Cornucopia Room Mmmm, Don Pablos The Farmer in the Dell???

2006 Saint Louis Auto Show

Today, BoyHead and I made our annual trip to the Auto Show. It's a great father-son bonding experience, plus we get to see neat cars and eat fried stuff. I had some lovely Onion Petals. I attempted to pose in several cars, but they were just too darn small. I finally found the pickup truck of my dreams. Check out the slideshow below to see all the lovelies.
