Easter Egg Hunt

Friendly neighborhood Easter Bunny, at your service Smile everyone The Egg Hunt

When I was initially asked if I could help with the children's Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, I thought, "sure, how bad could that be". A couple of hours hiding eggs and herding kids--I can do that. When asked what job I'd like to have, I foolishly said: "just put me where you need me". Little did I know, they needed me in a bunny costume. Who better to tell the REAL story of Easter than the Easter Bunny. And this was no rinky-dink ears and tail type costume. It was full tilt. And Hot! So I did a little skit and spelled out the story of Jesus and how he died for our sins and how he rose from the dead three days later and how all that relates to Easter. That was the minimum mandatory requirement. But then I thought the kids would want to see the Bunster close up. Maybe take a picture. Well, I was right. I was a STAR! After about an hour of mingling and posing I took the suit off. When I came back in my regular clothes all the kids ignored me. Go figure.

Lovely Wife has an Outing

All dressed up for a tea party Smile everyone

L.W. is continuing to mend. The doctor said that she could work up to putting 1/2 weight on her let. She loves it that I call her half-weight now. Not really. Anyway, now that she can hobble around on her walker, she and the Ladies went out for a tea party. Lovely.

Upward Award Celebration

One thing I can say about Upward--it's a first class operation all the way. First, the boys are evaluated, then the teams are arranged so that they are all relatively even. (That's why coaching make such a HUGE difference--kidding) Then, the boys are paired up so that they play against and defend boys of similar ability. Lastly, everyone plays the same amount of time. There is excellent support for coaches, refs and players. It's very well run. And the Award Celebration is no different. There are cheerleaders, songs and a message. Each team is introduced and their team picture shows on the big screen. The kids love it. If you ever get a chance to be involved with Upward, please do.

It's a Hardknock Life!

Very Cute

Lovely Daughter, in concert with some of her Focus One Girl's Bible Study group, performed a musical tribute to the trials and tribulations of young girls growing up in the world today. It was Very cute.

Meanwhile, I had my own performance as a junk shop owner in a skit for the children's worship service

Upward Basketball

Da Bears

The 2007 Upward Basketball Season is nearly over and our team has made great progress. We're dribbling well, we're passing (sometimes) and we're (mostly) not attempting the three-point "hero shots". The boys have learned much in these short few weeks and it's been a blessing to be their coach.

Live from L.W.'s Room

Do you think you'll ever get out of this place?

As you may know, Lovely Wife has had a pretty boring existence these past ten weeks. She's basically been laid up in bed for the past two and a half months. So today was something a little different. Our favorite radio station KFAV has a little bit called "Random Acts of Kindness". Today, they slammed a RAOK on L.W. by presenting her with flowers and doing a "Live Remote" from her bedroom. It was truly the highlight of her week.
