Today was the annual FBCLSL Lakeside Fellowship. I was tasked with cooking burgers, brats and dogs. And, I brought my "DragonBreath Salad"TM. Meanwhile others played, swam and sailboated. After dinner, we all gathered to watch as two more were added to the flock. Dennis and Felicia recently joined our church and were baptised in the lake. Oh yeah, a great time was had by all.
I was reluctant to post this picture because it is particularly unflattering. We had played six sets of tennis on a warm Saturday morning and my shirt was very wet and clingy and, hence, displayed my ample man-boobs. I've lost 50 lbs in the past year, but I've still got a ways to go. At any rate, I decided that everyone else on the website gets no say as to which picture of them I display (although, I generally don't put really bad ones on). So, here I am. In all my sweaty glory. BTW, the Livingston/Thurwachter team placed first in the "B flight" in the mixed doubles tournament.
I was looking at this old picture the other day and reminiscing about the days of yore when my lovelies came in and decided to pose (ok, maybe there was a little prodding from me). Boy, those kids sure did change in only 13 short years, but they're still just as cute. BoyHead ManHead has just finished his first semester at Southeast Missouri State University where he's majoring in Guitar HeroTM. I'm sure I'm getting my money's worth because he is Rock Star Quality. Lovely Daughter will be a Senior next year and is busy working at Subway and saving for her car. The goal is to have a new car by the end of the summer. I think she'll get there.
It's Father's Day once again and my family paid tribute to me. And I got an ice cream cake. Lovely Wife figured I like ice cream cakes better than just about anything else. Which is true, except for a crazy good Butterscotch Cake she made me one year for my birthday. That was the best cake I've ever had. Since I've lost so much weight (I'm down 50 lbs since last year) much of my wardrobe is way too big. I'm down from morbidly obese to merely portly. So mostly I got new shorts and shirts. And some new athlete gear: new racquetballs and a new glove. Oh, and everyone was nice to me for a whole day. It was just great! Thank you all.
Lovely Daughter is leaving today on a week long mission trip called SuperSummer. SuperSummer is an annual event and unlike most mission trips where you actually aid some portion of the community, this one is geared to aid our youth. It gives them an opportunity to grow spiritually and to learn how to be leaders. It is an excellent program and one that Lovely Daughter has attended last year as well. I'm sure she'll come back even better than when she left. Oh, I almost forgot. Here is a bonus picture of L.D. and Pastor Steve.
Congratulations Debbie and Jim. May you enjoy many years of blissful matrimony.
I saw this at our local Wal-Mart Supercenter and just couldn't resist.
